or other extraneous circumstances.
The truth is,
you precluded this from the start.

and spare my feelings.
All you do is hurt me more
to make me think that
if the situation were different
I might be in your arms.
As if
space and time
have any control over
hearts and minds.
Certainly not mine.
So as far as I’m concerned

At this bus stop
on this street
in this city
within the borders of a state
that belongs to a great nation
on a particular land mass
floating above the waters of this planet.
A planet that hangs precariously
in the still space of a galaxy
moving recklessly through a giant universe
beyond which you could not even begin to imagine.

But as your mind wanders
and zooms in
then pans out
and tries to picture life
at every possible angle,
do not lose sight of the simplest of truthes:
YOU
ARE
HERE.

but practice
pure hypocrisy.
Tell me,
What Would Jesus Do
if he heard your twisted words?
Have you confessed to him
each mortal sin
you’ve committed in his name?
By now your sacred Savior
should be overcome with shame.
Heathens cannot go to Heaven
and St. Peter won’t be fooled.
Blood and oil,
those are heavy stains
that cannot be removed.
Yet you preach on about purity
and all that you are not.
“Do unto others
as you would ask of them.”
Well… just tell Him you forgot.

Why I Write

Feelings stir inside my chest.
Thoughts that will not rest.
This crazy life.
This crazy love.
It begs to be understood.
But then it hides in the galaxy’s shadows.
I hear it trying to send me a message
on a high-pitched frequency.
I work to decipher its code.
And I will not stop this
even if I grow old
and weary
because my being needs to know.
If I didn’t feel
the ways I’m feeling
and the noise I hear
was never heard,
then I would not need these words.
But I can’t escape it.
And I can’t deny it.
My senses heighten and my hands
give in.
